A railway engine catches fire

The engine of an oil transporting train that was plying from Anuradhapura bound for Kolonnaawa caught fire this dawn.


The Railway Control Centre said that this incident had been reported between Thalaawa and Thambuttegamuwa.


As a result of this, railway transport on the Anuradhapura  track has been impeded.


Reports say that by now the train that was plying from Vavuniya bound for Matara has been parked at the Thalaawa Railway station.
