The funeral of the 17 year old student Akila Dinesh who was killed in the Walweriya protest was held at the Weliweriya Cemetery.

 

He was a grade 12 student of Yakkala – Chandra Jothi college at the time of his demise.

 

Another person died from wounds suffered during the Waliweriya incident, taking the death toll from the incident to three.

 

The 29 year-old Nilantha Pushpakumara who was receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital following the Weliweriya incident succumbed to injuries today.

 

Nilantha Pushpakumara was a resident of Gampola – Koluwala area.

 

Another 19 year old youth died last night while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the Colombo National Hopsital.

 

Rashan Perera was a student of Udugampola – St Peters College and he was scheduled to sit for the GCE Advance level examination commencing tomorrow.

 

Military spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya during a special media briefing held at the MCNS expressed these views regarding the Waliweriya incident.
