The Elections Secretariat states that it has received 92 complaints of election violence regarding the Central, Northern and North Western Provincial Council elections.

The election complaints center established at the election secretariat has currently received the most number of complaints from the Kurunegala District which is 23 complaints.

In addition 16 complaints have been received from the Matale district and 11 complaints have been received from the Kandy district.

Of the Northern Province the most number of complaints have originated from the Jaffna district and that number stands at 8 complaints.

Meanwhile, the residence of a coordinating secretary of Minister Jayaratna Herath, located near the Jayanthi Vidyalaya in Nikawaratiya has been attacked by a group of people last night.

The Unite People’s Freedom Alliance election office located in a building belonging to Senior Minister S. B. Navinna was also attacked by a group of individuals.

Following the attack Minister Jayaratne Herath spoke to our news team and expressed the following views.

During a press conference held today by the UPFA, media personnel raised questions regarding the attacks on UPFA election offices in the Kurunegala district.

In response the general secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Minister Maithreepala Sirisena had the following to say.
