The Minister of Wildlife Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza has appointed a 5 member committee to look in to the record book of tamed elephants.

 

Speaking to our news team the Minister stated that since officials relevant to the matter were expressing contradictory views, steps were taken to appoint a committee headed by Prof. Sarath Kotagamage.

 


 

Our news team revealed last Friday that the record book of tamed elephants had gone missing.

 

At present the Police has sealed the Wildlife Conservation Department’s Legal Division located in Battaramulla.

 

Also separate investigations are been carried out by the Police and the Ministry secretary.
