Investigations regarding allegations of abuse against deputy mayor of Nuwara Eliya

The Child Protection Authority has initiated an inquiry into the child abuse allegations against the Deputy Mayor of the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council Thissa Senevirathne.


Chairwoman of the CPA Anoma Dissanayaka stated that a group of officials were dispatched to Nuwara Eliya yesterday to conduct this inquiry.


She stated that the CPA has received 3 complaints regarding child abuse carried out by the deputy mayor.


Similarly 3 complaints have been received by the Nuwara Eliya and Ragala police stations in this regard as well.


Several parents of boys who were said to have been abused spoke to our news team and had the following to say.




Although our news team attempted to contact the deputy mayor of the Nuwara Eliya municipal council Thissa Senevirathne, it was to no avail as he did not answer the telephone call.
