Attempts to bring back Sri Lankans jailed in India

The Prison Department stated that it is exploring possibilities to bring down Sri Lankan prisoners currently serving in Indian jails.

Prison Commissioner G.B. Kulatunga said that his department has already obtained details about Sri Lankan prisoners in Indian jails.

A prisoner exchange program under a MoU among the SAARC nations is already in force and 9 Indian prisoners serving life terms in Sri Lankan jails were exchanged with India this week.

Explaining further about the program, Prison Commissioner G.B. Kulatunga had this to say.
