Inspections at Omanthai checkpoint relaxed

Inspections at the Omanthai checkpoint in Vavunia have been relaxed with effect from 12 noon today.

 

Wanni Security Forces Commander Major General Bonifas Perera stated that passengers travelling between the North and South will no longer be checked but only special vehicles will be inspected.

 

 

The Vavunia Omanthai checkpoint was set up in the year 2002.

 

Following requests from the public a decision was taken to relax inspection at the checkpoint.
