Oluwil Harbour to be opened today

The Oluwil Fisheries harbour in the Eastern Province is due to be opened today by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.


The fisheries harbour was constructed with aid from Denmark amounting to 43 Million Euros.


Development work of the Oluwil Harbour commenced on the 1st of July 2008.


It comprises a commercial harbour and a fisheries harbour and could handle vessels with 50,000 MT capacity.


The harbour also comprises an ice manufacturing factory and its breakwater is 1,475 meters long.
