UNHRC’s 24th session is scheduled to begin today.
While the session is held at the UN office in Geneva, the conference will go on till 27th this month.
According to the session’s agenda UNHR High Commissioner Navaneethan pillai will also submit an oral report prepared with regard to Human Rights in Sri Lanka.
On this occasion the UNHR High Commissioner is scheduled to express views about the progress in implementing the country’s response and reconstruction programme in accordance with the series of proposals passed at the UNHR session with regard to Sri Lanka.
So far no information to participate at this conference has been conveyed to Minister Mahinda Samarasinhge who had served as the head of Sri Lanka’s delegation at several sessions including the recent one.
However at a function held in Colombo during the last weekend, Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that a delegation of the attorney-general’s department had left the island for participating in the session.
