CMC Health inspectors and Health Ministry officials who checked the bottled water selling shops in Pettah found today that 25% of products sold within the Bastian Mawatha Private Bus stand were supplied by unregistered companies.

Only 87 companies have been registered with the Health Ministry to supply bottled water to the market but the officials found a large number of fake bottled water brands during the raid.

CMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam said that replicas of known bottled water trade marks were printed on these illegal water bottles.

He said some of them were unregistered and even being exposed to burning sun light when the officials raid these shops today.

Some of these fake water bottles carried the replicas of the SLS mark as well.
