Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said that he has sought legal advice from the Attorney General on the Ravana Balaya complaint against the TNA election manifesto.

Addressing a media briefing held at the Election Department, he said that he would educate the Ravana Balaya on the developments after the Attorney General’s reply.

The Ravana Balaya lodged a complaint with the Election Commissioner yesterday charging that contents of the TNA election manifesto were questionable.

The Election Commissioner also said that he did not receive a copy of the TNA election manifesto and the TNA is not obliged to send him one as well.

He also said that the TNA is not a recognized political party but only a registered political organization and he named the Ilangai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, a recognized political party.

When Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya was questioned about the denial of postal voting to 72 government servants attached to the Kundasale Divisional Secretariat this time, he told journalists that action will be taken against the postal voting certifying officials if they have intently done any mistake.

When our correspondent further questioned, the Commissioner said that his department cannot take the responsibility of late-applications.
