4 Indian pharmaceutical companies have been blacklisted for supplying low quality drugs to Sri Lanka during the past 4 years.

Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena had given the relevant order to the National Drugs Authority.

Laborate Pharma, Vivek Pharma, Bafna Pharmaceuticals, and Elysium Pharmaceuticals have thus been banned from supplying drugs to Sri Lanka.

The Health Ministry stated that in total 122 drugs supplied by them have been identified as low quality drugs.

The relevant pharmaceutical companies had been informed regarding the standard of drugs every year but they had not taken those concerns in to consideration.

Hence the Minister has ordered for a refund and legal action against the local representatives of the relevant companies.
