A petition that was filed at the appeal court petitioning that a writ ordinance be issued banning the Northern Provincial Council election was dismissed by the appeals court yesterday.
The appeals court had stated that there are no legal provisions to mediate to a decision taken by the President.
The petition was taken up before appeal court judge’s S .Sri Skandaraja and Malini Gunarathna.

The SNF secretary has said that the holding of this election be prevented till land mine removal in the North and resettlement of Sinhala and Muslim families removed from the North during the war are completely over.
