Former MP Jayasiri Jayasekera won the first place in the Kurunegala District from the UPFA securing 336 thousand and 327 votes.
This is also the highest number of votes a candidate has obtained in the Provincial Council history.
Before this that record belonged to former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
The former President secured 298 thousand and 457 preferential votes at the Western Provincial Council election in 1993.
The runner-up from Kurunegala was Minister Johnston Fernando’s son Johan Fernando with 134 thousand and 423 preferential votes.
The third place in Kurunegala was won by Dingiri Bandaa Herath with 60 thousand and 908 preferential votes.
The fourth place in the UPFA list was secured by former Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe with 47 thousand and 14 preferential votes.
The first place of the UNP from the Kurunegala District was won by J. C. Alawathuwala with 23 thousand and 980 preferential votes.
The second place of the UNP from there was secured by Shamal Senarat securing 21 thousand and 958 preferential votes.
Prime Minister’s son Anuradha Jayaratna was able to win the first place in the UPFA list in the Kandy District.
The second place in the UPFA’s Kandy list was won by former Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake with 70 thousand 171 preferential votes.
The third place in the same list was gained by Thilina Bandaara with 45 thousand and 60 preferential votes.
