The Tamil National Alliance which won the Northern provincial council has appointed a representative for one of the two bonus seats it won.
Hence TNA parliamentarian Selvam Adekkalanadan stated that Ayub Hashmin who contested for the Mannar district and lost has been appointed for one of the two bonus seats.
However, speaking further TNA parliamentarian Selvam Adekkalanadan stated that no representative has been named for the remaining bonus seat and that a representative will be nominated after discussions with the parties representing the TNA.
However, speaking at a press conference held today, the secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka expressed views regarding the victory obtained by the TNA in the Northern Province.
Speaking during the press conference he stated that the TNA obtained a high percentage of votes in the North by conducting a campaign that aroused racial passions in the Tamil populace of the North.
The minister also alleged that certain embassies including the Indian embassy also assisted the TNA in this regard.
