A report of a wreath of flowers being placed in front of the residence of A. G. Herath Banda, who contested the Central Provincial Council election from the Democratic Party, who also engaged in a fast in front of the Democratic Party office, was received today.
Upon inquiry by our news team, the candidate stated that the wreath of flowers was placed in front of his residence located in the Manikhena region this morning.
The Kundasale seat organizer Herath Banda, who contested under the Democratic Party lead by Sarath Fonseka engaged in front of the party headquarters in Pitakotte alleging that his preferential votes were changed.
Speaking further to our news team he also stated that he was threatened by two individuals.
However, the Kandy district organizer of the Democratic party Channa Galappaththi stated that a case will be filed in court against Herath Banda.
The Officer in Charge of the Manikhena police stated that a verbal complaint was received by the Manikhena police regarding the placing of a wreath of flowers in front of the candidate’s residence.
Speaking further the OIC of the Manikhena police stated that a team has been dispatched to conduct an investigation and that there is suspicion whether the candidate himself is responsible for this incident.
