The World Health Organization states that the water in the region is not the cause for the kidney disease in the North Central province.

Directress of the Non Communicable Diseases division of the WHO Dr. Shanthi Mendis made this statement while speaking to our news team.

Speaking further she stated that since the human body does not ingest Cadmium through water, tests prove that the water is not the cause for this issue.

However, speaking at a press conference the Government Medical Officers Association’s media spokesperson Dr. Navin De Soyza stated that a commission needs to be established to investigate regarding Arsenic which some claim is the reason for the Rajarata kidney disease.
