2 Suspects of the Vass Gunawardana Case become government witnesses

The Attorney General has decided to grant conditional pardons for two suspects in the murder of billionaire businessman Mohammad Siyam after naming them state witnesses.

 

The first suspect Krishantha Wishawaraj Koralage and the 2nd suspect Mohammad Fawusideen were granted conditional pardons in this manner.

 

Although a decision was taken to provide the former driver of former DIG Vass Gunawardena, Police Constable Priyantha Sanjeewa a conditional pardon as well, he had refused the offer.

 

The Attorney General had sent the relevant documentation in this regard to additional magistrate Mohammad Sahabdeen

 

The additional magistrate had subsequently summoned the suspects to court to inform of them of the conditional pardons and at this time the former driver of former DIG Vass Gunawardena, Police Constable Priyantha Sanjeewa had refused to accept the conditional pardon.

 

9 suspects including the former DIG Vass Gunawardena are currently in remand custody in connection to the murder of billionaire businessman Mohammad Siyam and will remain in remand custody till the 8th of October following a court order.
