The Environment Organizations say that required laws should be formulated for protecting the jungle fowl, the country’s national bird.

 

National Forest Protection Association’s Athik Naseer said that currently hunting of wild fowl in the Knuckles Reserve had increased.

 

He said further that the wild fowls thus hunted are sold at tourist hotels at high prices.

  

Our news team inquired about this from environmental lawyer Jagath Gunawardhana.

 

The Environmentalist stated that the police and the wild life department can arrest any one who harms or kills the jungle fowl without a warrant.
