The ministry of health is preparing to introduce new laws with regard to pharmaceutical companies that import substandard pharmaceutical drugs to Sri Lanka.
Director of the Cosmetics, Devices & Drugs Regulatory Authority Dr. Hemantha Benaragama, stated that in accordance with a decision taken by the ministry, any company that imports two or more substandard pharmaceutical drugs will be black listed for 5 years.
The ministry of health took a decision to temporarily lift the ban on 4 companies that imported substandard drugs to Sri Lanka yesterday.
However, they are not being allowed to import the substandard drugs that were imported earlier.
