The Cyclone Phailin in Bay of Bengal has intensified and located 1250 kilo meters to the north east of trincomolee and is moving towards India.

Met Department states that there is no direct effect to Sri lanka.

However, change of the prevailing weather is expected during next few days with some showers in the South Western parts and fairly strong South-westerly winds over the country and suburb sea areas.

Thunder showers will develop at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or night.
