The National Child Protection Authority took custody of 22 children who had been at a children’s home run at a Buddhist Temple at Aetambaskada in Vavuniya.
That was due to a complaint to the effect that children of the said children’s home had been subjected to various child abuses.
This children’s home at the Aetambagaskada Sudarmaaraama Buddhist Temple is run under the supervision of the Temple’s Chief Incumbent.
A call received by the Child Protection Authority to its number 1929 on 9th this month said that a child belonging to the said children’s home was receiving treatment at the Vavuniya Hospital due to an abuse.
This has been corroborated by the Child Protection Authority.
Subsequently the Vavuniya court had ordered that the Child Protection Authority takes custody of the children of the relevant children’s home.
The Child Protection Authority said that the police station of the area had earlier on received complaints about abuses taking place at the said Children’s Home.
The Child Protection Authority also said that investigations would be held with regard action not being taken with regard to the relevant complaints.
