5 pharmacists attached to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital have been interdicted in connection with their allegedly involvement in swindling a stock of expensive drugs.

The Health Ministry stated that it has delisted the company which supplied this drug Oncaspar to Maharagama Cancer hospital.

Oncaspar is purchased under a special procurement schedule; and the drug is given only to certain patients named by doctors. One jab of Oncaspar costs the Ministry about 237 thousand rupees.
