The United Nations state that the post war development that Sri Lanka has achieved is an example for other countries.
UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Subinay Nandy stated that the reconstruction and resettlement of the internally displaced in the North are good examples in this regard.
He further stated that favorable progress has been made in the reconciliation efforts as well.
Speaking further Nandy also commended the election in the North which has established democracy in the North which in turn has given the public of the North to gain recognition and respect.
Elaborating further Nandy has also stated that following the humanitarian effort, the relationship between these achievements and reconstruction efforts and the genuine drive to achieve reconciliation must be carefully nurtured by creating suitable conditions and that this will require political dedication and this in turn will help minorities gain respect and help protect their rights.
