Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bentota PS released on bail

The Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bentota Pradeshiya Sabha were released on bail yesterday.


The two were arrested due to a quarrel which stemmed regarding the installation of street lamps during the financial meeting of the Pradeshiya Sabha last 28th.


After being presented before the Balapitiya Magistrate Asanka Bodaragama, Chairman Gayan Sirimanna was released on a 200,000 rupees personal bail, while Vice Chairman Ranjith Wickramasinghe was released on a 50,000 rupees personal bail.


The Vice Chairman who was admitted to Bentota rural hospital with injuries was later transferred to Kalutara-Nagoda hospital for further treatment. The Chairman Gayan Sirimanne was also admitted to Balapitiya hospital, and was eventually arrested by a special police unit while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Narahenpita today.
