The main suspect of the recent five-person murder at Vihara-hal-milla-kulama, Anuradhapura has requested consent of the courts to make a confession. 

The suspect known as Nambu-kara-gamage Jagath Kumara, made this request when he was produced before the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Ruwandika Marasinghe.

Subsequent to providing permission for his confession on 11th, the Magistrate ordered the suspect to be remanded till then.

The funerals of the deceased were held yesterday.

Jagath Kumara was produced before the courts after interrogating for 48 hours at the Anuradhapura Provincial Police Headquarters.

The police said they have uncovered many important facts regarding the case and will continue the investigations to learn if he has any connections with previous crimes.

Anuradapuara 5 person murderer in a confession.


The main suspect arrested in connection with the murder of five persons in a house in Vihara Halmilla Kulama in Anuradhapura was produced before the Court yesterday.

Police Media Spokesman Office stated that a cache of gold jewelry and cash were also found in the suspect’s possession.

Police arrested suspect Jagath Kumara yesterday at 7pm at Hasalaka in Mahiyanganaya, and later found 4 gold chains, a gold wristlet and a gold ring in his possession.

Further investigations revealed that after the murder, the suspect had fled the areas along with the jewelry and 153 thousand 750 rupees belonging to the victims.

Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the main suspect made a confession yesterday to the police.

Main suspect of the Anuradapura murders arrested

3 police teams have currently been deployed to conduct investigations regarding the bodies of 5 individuals who were found murdered in a house in the Anuradhapura – Vihara – hal – milla – kulama region.

 

Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that one suspect was arrested yesterday noon.

 

Main suspect Jagath Kumara was arrested yesterday from the Hasalaka region.

 

The bodies of 3 women and 2 men of the same family who were murdered were discovered in the house last morning.

 

The body of the 40 year old mother, her 23 year old son and 13 year old daughter were discovered along with the bodies of her 61 year old sister and her son in this manner.

 

Meanwhile, the owner of the house K. A. Piyadasa who was also attacked is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura hospital.

3 police teams deployed to conduct investigation regarding murders in Anuradhapura

3 police teams have currently been deployed to conduct investigations regarding the bodies of 5 individuals who were found murdered in a house in the Anuradhapura – Vihara – hal – milla – kulama region.

Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that no one has been arrested in connection with the incident thus far and that investigations have revealed that the murders were carried out utilizing a sharp object.

The bodies of 3 women and 2 men of the same family who were murdered were discovered in the house this morning.

The body of the 40 year old mother, her 23 year old son and 13 year old daughter were discovered along with the bodies of her 61 year old sister and her son in this manner.

The bodies of 3 women and 2 men of the same family who were murdered were discovered in a house in the Anuradhapura – Vihara – Halmilla – Kulama region this morning.

 

The bodies of the 40 year old mother, her 23 year old son and 13 year old daughter were discovered along with the bodies of her 61 year old sister and her son in this manner.

 

Meanwhile, the owner of the house who was also attacked is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura hospital.

 

The police media unit stated that the severe stabbing wounds were found on the bodies of the deceased individuals.

 

The Anuradhapura police stated that the Anuradhapura Magistrate Ruwandika Marapana arrived on scene and carried out the magisterial inquiries a short while ago.

 

Upon inquiry by our news team, a senior police officer of the Anuradhapura Police stated that the reason for the murders has not yet determined.
