Video : Death threats on the Principal of Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Vidyalaya

The teachers attached to the Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Vidyalaya have launched a strike today in protest of death threats to the school principal.


School principal M.P. Karunarathna has by now left the school in fear of life.


It is reported that the Principal has warned several students for their undisciplined behavior yesterday evening, and a son of a known businessman in the area believed to be among the students.


Later the particular businessman has visited the school at 3.30pm yesterday and threatened the principal with death for warning his son.


The school teachers staged the strike today demanding immediate security to the Principal.


The teachers also engaged in a protest march from the school to the Ruwanwella town.


Meanwhile the police have arrested the suspected businessman a short while ago.


A senior police officer attached to the Ruwanwella police told our news team that the suspect will be produced before the Ruwanwella Magistrate this afternoon.
