Video : Sella Kataragama Rajamahaa Temple sacred dome unveiled by President.

The crest of the newly constructed sacred relic dome of the Sella Kataragama Vathuruvaa Rajamahaa Buddhist Temple was unveiled by President Mahinda Rajapaksa last afternoon.


The President also inaugurated the electric lighting system constructed around the relic dome and made the first offering of flowers to the sacred relic dome as well.


Similarly the President’s Media Unit said that yesterday the President inaugurated the Mirichchivila Botanical Garden, Sri Lanka’s first and largest dry zone Botanical Garden.


Construction of this Botanical Garden covering an area of about 300 acres began in 2008.


The objectives of setting up this Botanical Garden are conservation of flora belonging to the dry zone, uplift of the economy of the people of the area, running an environment-friendly tourism industry, growing of medicinal plants and using them in production of medical drugs.
