National, school music competitions likely to be postponed

Monday, 11 November 2013 - 13:06

The Lanka Teachers Association stated that the Education Department’s decision to hold national school music competition on November 30 and December 1 would bring injustice to certain students who sit the GCE O/L examination.

Association Secretary Joseph Stalin said this competition was earlier scheduled for October 18 and 20.

He also asked the authorities to reschedule this competition after the GCE O/L examination.

Our news team contacted Education Department Music Director Edward Jayakody to comment on the Teachers Association’s claim.

He said that the requests by Teacher Associations and parents have been accommodated, and discussions are going on to explore the possibilities to hold the national school music contest on December 26 and 27.
