1.5 billion rupees set aside for Colombo development

Meanwhile CMC convened a media briefing to explain about the city decorations that is now in place with regard to the CHOGM.


Addressing the media Colombo Mayor A.J.M. Mussammil said that city decoration and renovation of the city roads have grossly cost the government about 1.5 billion rupees.


He said the CMC provided 500 million rupees to support this project while the balance was funded under a World Bank Project.


Mussammil also said that the CMC however expects to obtain 800 million rupees from the government treasury to cover the funds that it spent on the city decoration project.
