The suspect of the Vihara Halmille-Kulama 5-member murder case and former army solider refused to confess as he volunteered to do so earlier when he was produced before the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate today.
Later Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ruwandika Marasinghe remanded the 30-year old suspect and resident of Bakamuna till 25th of this month.
The Magistrate also ordered to send the material evidence of the murder including a blood smeared machete, a shovel and some clothes to the government analyst and for DNA tests.
The Magistrate also ordered prison authorities to allow an army major to obtain a statement with regard to the murder from the suspected former soldier.
Our court correspondent said that the statement was obtained from the suspect while he was sitting inside the Black Maria.
The mother, her son and daughter, a relative woman and her son were hacked to death inside a house at Vihara Halmille-Kulama in Anuradhapura last Tuesday.
Another person who critical injured in the attack has been receiving treatment at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
