Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe said that a good opportunity had now dawned for obtaining the governing power.
The opposition leader said so while addressing a meeting held at the Sirikotha party headquarters.
On this occasion the Opposition Leader said further that CHOGM had become a burden to the people.
Meanwhile UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake issued a communiqué with regard to CHOGM yesterday.
It was stated in the release that Commonwealth Secretariat were not following a proper procedure with regard to reports the Commonwealth Observers had submitted about Sri Lanka.
However it is also stated in the communiqué that after Sri Lanka obtained the CHOGM chairmanship an opportunity has become available for making an impact for observing the commonwealth values. Update : Wednesday, 13 November 2013 - 8:05 AM

Leader of the UNP Ranil Wickramasinghe states that everyone should forget their differences and come together to guide the party.
Speaking further he stated that the authority to direct the party lies with the Central Working Committee as opposed to himself.
UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe made this statement while speaking at a meeting of the National Youth Front held at the UNP party headquarters in Sirikotha.
