Australia - Sri Lanka to ink new deal to stop boat arrivals

Australian Premier Tony Abbot said that he’s ready to sign an agreement with Sri Lanka regarding illegal immigrants.


He further expressed that Sri Lanka and Australia have maintained a good cooperation when dealing with illegal immigrants.


Australian External Minister Julie Bishop had a discussion with the Sri Lankan government about Australia’s new mechanism underway to counter human trafficking.


Australian media reports stated that the new mechanism will stop the intruding boats across the Australian maritime border and send them back.
