Video: Sports enabled to create unity among races; says President. CHOGM 2013

President Mahinda Rajapakse states that sport has played a pivotal role in the resurgence of the country following a 3 decade long war.

President Rajapakse made this statement while speaking during the Commonwealth Sports Breakfast held in Colombo in which Commonwealth Heads of Government took part.

The Government Information Department stated that several prominent sports personalities including Muttaiah Muralitharan and Susanthika Jayasinghe were also present during the summit.

In addition a group of athletes who will be taking part in the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland also took part in the summit.

Speaking further President Rajapakse stated that the government has taken a number of steps to develop sports in the country.
