Video: 3 student protests in Colombo - Trade Unions on a protest march

Several protests were staged in 3 different locations today demanding solutions to accumulated problems within the university system.

The Inter University Students Federation staged a protest against cancellation of a 4-year degree course on Allied Health Science opposite the Fort Railway Station this afternoon.

Students of the University of Colombo also staged a protest opposite the campus demanding an immediate solution to the lack of hostel facilities.

Vehicular traffic came to a near standstill this afternoon due to the protest by University students.

Meanwhile a group of students who passed the GCE A/Level in 2012 gathered near the University Grants Commission this afternoon and complained of discrimination when aggregated marks were being released.

Later Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake invited the students for a discussion.
