Dehiwala Zoo officials discovered today that the snake found in the Opposition Leader’s parliament office was a harmless common wolf snake.


The Observation Officer of the Reptile Park of the Dehiwala Zoo Premasiri Peries told our news team that it was a harmless common wolf snake.


Earlier media reports stated that a cat snake was found in the Opposition Leader’s office yesterday.


The Government Information Department stated that an expert on snakes has submitted Speaker of parliament today a report confirming that the snake was harmless.

A cat-snake spotted in the Opposition Leader's Office in parliament; Speaker orders an investigation to the incident.

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa instructed the parliament security officials today to find out how a cat-snake slithered into the Opposition Leader’s Office in parliament complex.


Speaker visited the Opposition Leader’s Office soon after he received the information and instructed the security to check the incident.


Computer technicians attached to the parliament have gone to the Opposition Leader’s office for a repairing job this afternoon.


Later the technicians have spotted a cat-snake under the litter basket near the Opposition Leader’s writing table.
