Pensions for farmers confirmed after 60; Agricultural insurance board replies to JVP.
Former JVP MP Bimal Rathnayake says that farmers between the ages of 60 to 63 are discriminated due to the government decision to pay pension only to farmers above 63.
The former MP underlined his views participating in ‘Balaya’ political program on Hiru TV yesterday night.
Later our news team contacted Agricultural Insurance Board Chairman Dr. Damitha de Soyza to comment on the allegations.
Dr. Damitha de Soyza said that all farmers over 60 are entitled to receive the payment of Farmer Pension.

Tax increase does not cause increase of prices of consumer goods - says Government.
The ‘Balaya’ participatory political programme that is telecast on Hiru TV every Thursday from 10 p.m. to midnight was telecast last night as well.
The topic of the programme last night was the BUDGET.
Ministers Susil Premajayantha and Lakshman Senevirathna participated representing the Government.
UNP MP Eran Wickramarathna and former JVP MP Bimal Rathnayaka participated representing the opposition.
UNP MP Eran Wickramarathna at one point said that when taxes are imposed prices of goods will be increased.
However in reply Minister Susil Premajayantha stated that Tax increase does not cause increase of prices of consumer goods.
