Empty budget; vote against it; says Opposition leader in Parliament.

The debate on the 2nd reading of the budget commenced today in parliament at 9.30 am.

Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe addressing the chambers stated that the government has presented an empty budget.

He also pointed out that the budget failed to address new methods of generating income

He further stated that concessions are not provided through the budget

Hence Opposition leader stated that the UNP will vote against.

However in response deputy finance minister doctor Sarath Amunugama stated that the opposition leader is talking without analysing the budget properly.

The minister pointed out that majority are extremely satisfied with the budget and it is a people’s friendly budget
