UPDATE: Video : Chavakachcheri Pradeshiya Saba comes against Murali.
The TNA controlled Chavakachcheri Pradeshiya Sabha passed a resolution against former cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan for his remarks about Tamils during a recent interview with Channel 4 television.
Muralitharan told Channel 4 journalist that it was British Prime Minister David Cameron’s first visit to the north, and some elements have misled him about Tamils in the North.
The resolution was moved by Chavakachcheri Mayor R. Devasahayan in the PS meeting yesterday.
Chavakachcheri Mayor R. Devasahayan told our news team that all 9 members of the TNA voted for the resolution against Muralitharan while 2 EPDP members representing the government did not participate in the voting.
When our news team contacted Muttiah Muralitharan on a previous occasion to comment on his interview, he said that Channel 4 did not telecast his full statement.
Muralitharan said that therefore the true meaning of his statement has been mis-interpreted.
The attempt by our news team to contact Muttiah Muralitharan to comment on the resolution passed by Chavakachcheri PS against him was failed as Muralitharan has flown out of the country.
