Video : Ground breaking operation in the Badulla Hospital

For the first time in the history of Sri Lanka, a group of doctors of the Badulla Hospital have successfully removed a tumor from a patient which had spread from the rectum to the live using observations cameras after making a 4 centimeter incision.

The doctors stated that the tumor which is usually requires two stages to remove, was removed in one operation and that it was a significant moment in the medical field of the country.

The two stage operation would require a one and a half foot incision to be made on the patient’s body.

Speaking to our news team, Chief Oncologist of the Badulla Hospital Dr. Anuruddha Thevarapperuma stated that due to use of modern technology the blood loss was also significantly reduced.
