Tamil National poet V. I. S. Jeyapalan who had arrived in the country on a tourist visa and subsequently violated immigration laws has been deported.

Immigration and Emigration Controller Chulananda Perera who spoke with our news team stated that steps were taken to deport Jeyapalan last night.

Jeyapalan, who was arrested for violating conditions of his visa was arrested on Friday and handed over to the department of immigration and emigration for questioning.

Upon questioning Jeyapalan, who is currently residing in Norway, had stated that he had arrived in Sri Lanka to pay his respects to his mother’s place of rest which is located in the Mankulam region in Vavuniya.
