'Lehaar' weakened - Advice to northern fishermen.

The met department states that severe cyclonic storm Lehar in the Bay of Bengal has weakened into a cyclonic storm and is centred about 650 kilo meters northeast of Jaffna.

It is likely to weaken further and would move northwest towards India.

Deep sea areas 300 kilo meters away from the coast extending from Jaffna to Trincomolee will be very rough and dangerous as winds could reach speeds of 70 kilometres per hour.

Naval and fishing communities in these areas are requested to be vigilant.
