Thursday, 28 November 2013 - 19:12

The Bodhu Bala Sena Organization states that Jaffna District TNA parliamentarian S. Sridharan should be arrested.

The Ampara Municipal Council also unanimously passed a resolution stating that legal action should be taken against MP Sridharan.

The National Freedom Front alluded today that there may be a link between the comments made by MP Sridharan two days ago and the murder of the EPDP controlled Delft Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Daniel Rexeon.

Minister S. B. Dissanayaka claimed that the statement made by TNA MP S. Sridharan was one that supports terrorists on the same day the statement was made.

However, despite the efforts of several parties to commemorate terrorists in the North yesterday claiming it to be “Mahaviru day” security forces prevented such activities.

3 individuals who attempted such a commemoration in the Mannar – Murukkan region were arrested by the police.

However, TNA Northern Provincial Councillor M. K. Sivajilingam stated that a funeral wreath was placed in front of his residence in Wel – weti – thurei this morning.

The police have received reports that stones were thrown at the residencies of Northern Provincial Agricultural Minister Ayin – gara – nesan and Provincial Councillor E. Arnold.

Sources in the North stated that such attacks were carried out on the houses of those who attempted to commemorate the terrorists.

However, Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that while it is illegal to commemorate terrorists, it is also illegal to harass others using that as an excuse and that those engaging in such activities will be prosecuted by the law.

The NFF convened a media briefing in Colombo today and said that the party suspects a link between the murder of EPDP controlled Delft Island Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and the speech made by TNA MP Sridharan in parliament on the same day.

Meanwhile Ampara Urban Council passed a unanimous resolution today against MP Sridharan’s statement in parliament.

Ampara Town Council consists of 6 UPFA and 3 UNP members.

Meanwhile Bodu Bala Sena insisted that TNA MP Sridharan should be arrested immediately for violating the Constitution and the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Curfew reimposed from 2.00pm will continue until further notice.
