Man arrested for plotting the murder of wife and two children who came for maintenance case

A man was arrested over chargers of having plotted the murder of his wife, two children and mother in law who were arriving at the Marawila District Court for a maintenance case.

The suspect, a Bank Executive in Pannipitiya was remanded till the 9th after having been produced before courts.

The suspect who was living away from his family had been ordered by courts to pay 35,000 Rupees monthly as maintenance but had failed to pay it for 2 years.

While his wife, children and mother in law were arriving at the Marawila courts for the case the suspect had rammed his motor vehicle in to the three wheeler.

Later a can of petrol, sword, gloves and kerosene were also found from the vehicle.

He had later confessed that he had brought all the items with the intention of murdering the family.
