Video: Final decision not taken to increase milk powder prices; CAA

The Consumer Services Authority says that so far a final decision has not been taken to increase milk powder price.

Consumer Services Authority Director General J. M. J. Douglas said that by now five companies importing milk powder to this country had requested the Consumer Services Authority for increase of price of goods.

Meanwhile the budget this time has imposed a new ‘VAT’ on milk powder used in bakery industry.

The all island Bakery Owners’ Association says that as a result of this price of raw materials used for bakery products has also increased.

All Island Bakery Owners’ Association Chairman N. R. Jayawardhana said that in the future consumers would have to bear the prices increased in consequence of this.
