Imposter arrested for demanding ransom via telephone

A suspect was caught yesterday by Mirihana Special Crime Operation Unit yesterday, for collecting ransom from various people while feigning as a high ranked police official.

The suspect, who is a resident of Balapitiya, was caught when attempting to call and demand ransom from a person in Vennappuwa.
