Today is the second day of the Committee stage debate over the Budget Speech for 2014.

The appropriation reports of the Law and Order, National Defence and Urban Development Ministries were taken for debate today.

At the same time, Prime Minister D.M. Jayarathna answered a question raised by the JVP with regard to the Asia’s largest stock of heroin ever seized by the Customs recently.

JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake quoted the Prime Minister as saying that the weight of the stock of heroin seized by the Sri Lanka Customs has been halved.

Prime Minister D M Jayarathna said in Parliament today that the net weight of the seized drugs by the customs was 131 kilograms.

He made this statement in response to a question raised by MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka.
