Video : Update : Delft murder suspects remanded

The 3 suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman were remanded till the 17th of this month when they were produced before the Kytes Magistrate today.

Among the suspects arrested by the CID are Northern Provincial Council Opposition Leader K. Kamalendran and Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman’s wife.

The CID also seized the fire-arm and the bicycle used in the murder.

It is revealed that the motive behind the murder was an illicit love affair between main suspect and Northern Provincial Council Opposition Leader and the victim’s wife.

Police found the body of former Chairman of the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha late Daniel Rexseason in his house on the 26th of last month.

The murdered Delft PS Chairman as well as the remanded NCP Opposition Leader are members of the EPDP led by Minister Douglas Devananda.

Northern Opposition Leader arrested for Delft Chairman's murder

The chief suspect in the murder of the Deft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Opposition Leader of the Northern Provincial Council K. Kamalendran was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department this morning.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the wife of the murdered PS Chairman and another suspect has also been arrested in connection with the murder.

The firearm and the motorcycle used in the murder have also been confiscated by the CID.

Investigations have revealed that an illicit affair between the murders PS chairman’s wife and the NPC opposition leader has lead to the murder.

The body of the deceased PS chairman Daniel Rexeon was discovered by the police at his residence on the 26th of last month and later it was determined that a gunshot wound to the head was the cause of death.

Based on evidence gathered during initial investigations the CID began its investigations.

A lot of information about Delft Chairman comes to light

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana says that a lot of details about the Delft Divisional Council Chairman has come to light.

The police media spokesman said that accordingly it would be possible to reveal the persons responsible for the murder soon.

The police found the deceased Delft  Divisional Council Chairman Daniel Reksen’s body at his home on 26th November.

Subsequently it became manifest that the death had occurred as a result of shooting on the head.

The CID commenced investigations about the incident accordingly.
