Customs suspect that gold traffic masterminds may be in Colombo

The Sri Lanka Customs has decided to begin a special investigation in search of masterminds of the gold traffic taking place centred in India and Sri Lanka.

Customs Department Media Spokesman and Customs Dissolution  Division Director Leslie Gamini told our news team that during the recent past several weeks a large number of incidents of carrying gold from Sri Lanka to India had been reported.

With the arrest in India of 56 Sri Lankans having in their possession 26 kgs of gold worth 60 million rupees, particulars of a Indo-Sri Lanka based gold traffic came to light on 25th last month.
