The UPFA controlled Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha budget for 2014 was also defeated for the second time today by one vote.

Out of the 14 member Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha, 2 UPFA members joined their 5 Opposition counterparts to vote against the budget while 6 UPFA members voted for the budget. One UPFA member was absent today.

Our correspondent said that heavy police protection was provided to the Pradeshiya Sabha premises during the vote taking.

Former Chairman of the Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha did not attend the meeting during the vote taking today.

During the today’s meeting,  the Opposition Leader charged that there was a move to arrest the former Chairman in connection with a financial fraud.

The budget of the UPFA controlled Imbulpe Pradeshiya Sabha budget for 2014 was also defeat by 4 votes.

The Imbulpe Pradeshiya Sabha consists of 13 member seats and 9 out of them are from the government side.

Three government members and the Opposition Leader voted for the budget while 6 government members and 2 opposition members voted against the budget. One Opposition member was absent in the meeting today.

UFPA member Srilal Senerath said that he voted against the budget in protest of the irregularities of the PS Chairman.

Ten members opposed this budget when it was presented to the meeting on the 28th of last month and consequently, the Chairman postponed the meeting todate without taking a vote.

Our news team attempted to contact Pradeshiya Sabha Opposition Leader D.R. Indu Gunatilaka to comment on the change of his stand, and voted for the budget today.

However our attempt was failed as Indu Gunatilaka was engaged in a meeting
